Unlike the other songs I’m doing in the show, this one is quite difficult as we very rarely get to sing actual phrases in the song with the boys instead we add in lots of bits like “Get it! Yeah! You’re Gonna Get It!” etc. She cares a lot about her appearance, despite being a poor skid row girl, so spends a lot of her time twirling her hair, checking her nails & preening herself. She’s the least cool out of the three, yet is still as equally as sassy & cheeky, just a little dumber than the other two, just to contrast. I’ve decided to make Chiffon a little bit more dumb than the other two girls, she’s slightly ditsier & slower off the uptake, but she really lets herself go, sometimes bringing out silly dance moves & getting carried away with the music & the whole fun of the plant singing to Seymour, this is nice as it allows the other two girls to stop her & calm her down a bit, remind her to be cool. I love the souly style of it because it allows me to play around with the little lines I have, like “Well, well well… yeah!” & “You’re gonna get it” using the lower, more souly part of my range & just having fun with it. ![]() It’s also a nice contrast to Skid Row for me & Rosie as we’re depressive street-dwellers in Skid Row, whereas here we’re really streetwise, cheeky, confident girls that have this air of ‘I know something you don’t’, they also bring some glamour to the song. I was really excited as I love playing Chiffon & this is such a brilliant song to be a part of, it’s a lot of fun! It’s a song with lots of jazzy soul that becomes a fast paced funky number, I think it’s really nice to have the girls in as you’ve got two different dynamics, with us backing up the plant in his funky souly plea to Seymour, while Richie counteracts this with smooth, long bits where he hesitates. As well as doing some dialogue in Hannah’s performance of Somewhere That’s Green, however we just didn’t have time to learn all these different bits so close to the show, so we decided to just do Feed Me as it’s a bigger number & required backing singers. Relatively late on in the process, Jenny, Rosie & I were asked by Richie & Aaron to play Ronette (Jenny), Chiffon (Me) & Crystal (Rosie) in their performance of Feed Me from Little Shop Of Horrors. You (I) need blood and he's got more than enough So go git it! ![]() He's so nasty, treatin' her rough, Smackin' her around and always talkin' so tough. I don't know I have so, so many strong reservations Should I go and perform mutilations? Think about a room at the Ritz Wrapped in velvet, covered in glitz A little nookie gonna clean up your zits And you'll git it Gee I'd like a Harley machine, Toolin' around like I was James Dean, Makin' all the guys on the corner turn green So go git it If you wanna be profound And you really gotta justify Take a breath and look around A lot of folks deserve to die If you want a rationale It isn't very hard to see Stop and think it over, pal The guy sure looks like plant food to me. Would you like to be a big wheel, Dinin' out for every meal? I'm the plant that can make it all real You gonna git it I'm your genie, I'm your friend I'm your willing slave Take a chance, just feed me and You know the kinda eats, The kinda red hot treats The kinda sticky licky sweets I crave Come on, Seymour, don't be a putz Trust me and your life will surely rival King Tut's Show a little 'nitiative, work up the guts And you'll git it I don't know. Lyrics Feed me! Feed me! Feed me! Feed me, Seymour Feed me all night long That's right, boy You can do it Feed me, Seymour Feed me all night long 'Cause if you feed me, Seymour I can grow up big and strong Would you like a Cadillac car? Or a guest shot on Jack Paar? How about a date with Hedy Lamarr? You gonna git it. All the way through this Chiffon, Ronette & Crystal smugly look on with their 'We know something you don't' mentality, enjoying the song thoroughly as back-up singers. We also see Seymour turn from a sweet, innocent young botanical genius, into a prospective murderer, fueled by his desire for fame, fortune & the girl of his dreams. ![]() We see the plant turn from an inanimate bit of foliage to a monsterous creature with a persuasive manner & wicked mind. In fact, with some convincing from the plant, he decides on his first victim almost instantaneously: Orin. This (along with the offers of fortune, fame & the like) is what changes Seymour's mind about murdering for the plant. We also get to see on stage an example of the domestic abuse that is contained within Orin & Audrey's relationship as he slaps her for forgetting her jumper. However, when told that it can't have any more blood, the plant shows just how aware & intelligent it really is, proving it is anything but an inanimate object it not only begins to talk to Seymour, but starts to sing! It tries to bribe Seymour into killing someone so it can satisfy its need for blood, offering him fortune, fame & Audrey.
